• these are a few of my favorite things

    (home edition)

I think it’s really important that no matter how big or small, a house should always feel like a home. The home should have some sort of personality and be warm and inviting. After living in my tiny studio for a little over a year now, I’m pretty satisfied with how I turned this tiny box into a place I call my own, and I thought I’d share some of the tidbits that genuinely make me happy to look at.

This is a collection of skeleton artwork I acquired over one weekend. I really like how they have a very Mexican vibe about them without being too “in your face, cheesy.” I’ve also had an obsession with skeletons/dia de los muertos lately, and you can’t really tell in the photo but el mundo (bottom) has some really awesome flowers drawn on his head.

Stack of vogue magazines under my mirror. There’s just something so feminine about Vogue that I love.

Miguel’s skateboard, one of the many baskets we have (they’re my favorite storage compartment!), and his work bag. It’s his little corner by the desk. I don’t know why I love this so much; I just do. It’s a nice touch of manly-ness I guess.

Our latest DVD finds. We’ve been on a real DVD kick lately, and tend to watch a few in a couple days, so they stack up before I put them away. I liked this particular stack though because it’s super reminiscent of our personalities.

My sister did this painting many years ago, and I’ve always loved it. When she left for Spain, I took it as mine, and I imagine I’ll have it somewhere in my house forever. It’s currently hanging out in my kitchen with my fruit basket, and is a constant reminder not to worry too much and laugh a little.

I got all of those hot sauces for 50 cents, and not only are they delicious, but the bottles are designed really well.

& lastly this is the windowsill in the bathroom. My perfumes + his cologne and some really good smelling candles make the bathroom feel kinda pretty… I guess. haha

& that’s it! I’d love to see some of the things that make your house a home too! Feel free to reply/ask/send links my way!

Have a fabulous week all! ;]
