2011 — the year of FUN!
When 2010 ended, I promised myself with a fierce passion that I would do everything in my power to make sure the following year was filled with good vibes, positivity & FUN. It was my only resolution really, and I’d like to think it was a success.

January — Miguel moves in, the year of long distance is over & we become inseparable. There never was an “adjustment period” where it felt awkward that 2 souls that had never lived together before needed to get comfortable. We were already comfortable, automatically, just like that.

February — we get really into finding pubs & parties happening around us. We learned that we much prefer the pubs in Newtown then the douchdouch ones in the city. We also learned that we will never, never go to The Ivy as a couple ever again.

March — We spent our first weekend in Bondi and discovered the most amazing Spanish restaurant. Also, I finally kicked my bad taste of Sangria, and am loving it again! We also went to the Blue Mountains this month, but I can’t find my post about that anywhere :[

April — We took our first trip to the Featherdale zoo & touch Koalas!!! They feel like super soft felt. Other notable April events include going to the Royal Easter Show, attending Prince William & Kate’s wedding and checking out the lights at the Vivid festival.

May — I celebrated my 22nd birthday at Pancake on The Rocks with family & family friends. I was really, really happy to see that we filled up a couple of tables with wonderful people- such a stark contrast to the 2010 birthday!
June — Sara moved back to Sydney & the shennanigans that I missed so much with her were back in my life! I believe we hung out nearly every weekend together before she made her big move back to the UK. I still miss her every day.

July — The beginning of the Reddit Meet Ups, and us FINALLY making friends. Picture is relevant bc prior to finding this graveyard we were all drinking at the pub across the street, which for some reason I have no photos of. We then all thought it would be a great idea to walk on really old, scary graves. This place was creepy, even in daylight!!

August — So many things happened this month! Miguel & I celebrated our 2nd year anniversary, we decided to (semi) permanently stay in Australia & I got my first tattoo! This month really solidified a lot of our plans for the future, and made me realize I’m a lot braver than I think. :]

September - I threw my Mom a Mexican themed party, where again I was surprised with how many people turned up. It was a reminder that there are some real people who love us out here. I surprised myself with baking skills (that’s a tres leches cake up there) and I got pissed off at myself for ruining THREE batches of choux pastries when I’ve made them perfectly before!

October— This month was full of the typical Halloween festivities one expects October to have. It was a little odd this year, but it was pretty cool to see a good chunk of Aussies getting into the spirit. This is a Halloween picnic we went to. Lots of booze, lots of chips, lots of random costumes. Also Miguel carved his first pumpkin evaaar!

November — November was such an awesome, awesome month. Miguel turned 22 and we took our first plane ride together to the Gold Coast. It was our first real vacation together, and we loved it so much. Other notable November events include: Miguel quits his job for an even better job, I go to the ARIAs for the second time & Summer graces us with her presence. (kinda)

December — December was another memorable month. My grandma came to visit from the Philippines, I went to 3 different Christmas parties, and the family spent our Christmas holiday in Port Stephens. During our time there I spent a lot of time catching up with my immediate family and felt very lucky to have them and Miguel constantly in my life. Also dolphins swam next to our kayak!!!
and that’s it I guess.
2011 was beyond anything I could have ever expected. It was a ton of fun, and while I was enjoying myself, I also managed to grow into a young, independent, (financially) stable woman. I’m really happy with where I am in my life now, and really I couldn’t be more blessed. 2012, I am so ready for you. Here’s to growth & moving forever forward. CHEERS, FRIENDS!
